Principal’s Welcome Message
A warm welcome to Gen. Maximino Hizon Elementary School – an outstanding school in the Division of City Schools-Manila. Here you will find a dedicated and talented team of faculty, hard-working and engaging pupils along with supportive and proud parents and internal and external stakeholders. Together we are a team – One School, One Goal!
Our pupils are at the heart of all that we do. We provide an exciting, broad and balanced curriculum to inspire and motivate our pupils with opportunities to promote independence, learn life-long skills and to aspire for the future.
We have set high standards and high expectations. Academic achievement is important, and our pupils do well – they demonstrate very positive attitudes to learning. We also provide them with co-curricular activities to foster holistic learning environment.
GMHES upholds the Division’s mantra: Q1…Quality First, where excellence is a lifestyle.
Within a caring and nurturing school environment we equip our pupils with the skills to be responsible citizens, tolerant and respectful of others and confident to face the everchanging demands of society and be globally- competitive individuals. Our school is one with the Department of Education in developing 21st Century Learners.
As we celebrate the school’s 82nd year with the implementation of K-12 in the past years, it will be a landmark in the history of elementary education.
We establish strong community linkages and foster deep commitment with our stakeholders who share our vision of providing quality basic education to our children. Together let us make positive changes in our education. Be one with us in developing leaders of the future.

The earliest known record of the existence of Gen.M.Hizon Elementary School was way back in 1936. It was formerly known as Soler Primary School and Soler Intermediate School, merged into one, and was name as Soler Elementary School, which was later changed as requested by most of the Pampango residents in the vicinity to Gen. Maximino Hizon Elementary School in memory of a Pampango soldier who fought against the Spaniards and Americans.
The school’s wooden structured façade was demolished and a new three-storey concrete building was constructed last October 6, 1966 by the Santander Construction Company allotted by the Municipal Government of Manila by an Ordinance No. 5719. This was made possible through the constant follow-up of the active Parents Teachers Association headed by President Beinvinido Garcia.
